Connector backshells are protective components fitted to the rear of electrical connectors. Their purpose is to enhance the durability, performance, and reliability of the connection by providing mechanical support and environmental protection.
We offer a wide range of products to meet the requirements of the most rigorous connector standards including MIL-DTL (MS), VG and JN series. We also offer backshell solutions for connector product ranges from manufacturers such as Aero-Electric Connectors, Amphenol, Glenair, TE, Deutsch, ITT Cannon and Souriau.
A complete range of circular connector backshell types are available, each designed to address specific needs such as EMI/RFI shielding, environmental protection, and mechanical strain relief. EMCA GmbH operates our own high-capacity CNC machine centre in Schwaigern, Germany, manufacturing components 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This degree of control over our own production schedules ensures we can reliably provide approved and certified components on time fulfilling the requirements of the most rigorous supply chain. We also boast our own plating manufacturing process to ensure quality and on time delivery.
With all core operations in house we have full control of all our processes. Our EMCA GmbH manufacturing facility is VG-qualified, and we focus on the highest quality standards and work continuously to keep and improve our level of quality. The EMCA Interconnect Limited management system is certified to EN9100:2018.
EMCA backshells are always available in a RoHS and REACH compliant version using the innovative EMCA Hybrid Surface Finish. This finish was developed as an alternative for Cadmium olive drab, Zinc Nickel, Zinc Cobalt, and other finishes that may not meet current environmental standards. It is fully intermatable with those and other finishes of the corresponding connectors, without interfering with their features or performance. This means EMCA can provide technically equivalent RoHS and REACH compliant backshells as a direct replacement for legacy non-compliant components.
