Previously, backshells had to be manufactured of the same material and plated in the same way as the connectors. This resulted in either excess inventory or long lead times. Mixing materials and plating finishes may cause corrosion and a loss of electrical performance. The solution to this problem is the EMCA Black Hybrid Finish.
